Translation:

["Don't be worried any more, the Japanese] have left," she said.

"This girl picked up the knife that was near the mango and stabbed herself in the thigh. I think that she was hysteric and just vigorously stabbed herself. Blood just poured out, of course. So while her sisters pretended to quarreled with each other because she had stabbed herself with the knife, they struggled with each other.

The two older ones struggled and the younger one while trying to mediate between them called out 'Help, please'. I think they looked quite like they were သဏ္ဌာန်-ing. Even though the sisters were affectionate to each other, the Japanese still went and preached..."

The elderly man's eyes became bright.

"She saved my life. It was of course the girl who had stabbed herself in her thigh with the knife. Did she hit a vein when she stabbed herself? I don't know. It wasn't a small amount that she had to be treated. Since it was during the war there was a shortage of medication and her one leg became slightly impaired."

"That's it... that's it."

"Yes, that's your grandfather, of course," the elderly man said with pride.

"At the present time, although I'm old and in pain and forgetful, since the time [of meeting] that old woman, I've been youthful and energetic. One's own people...
